I recently created a Halloween vignette using multiple Tim Holtz products because, well, he’s the best and I love Halloween! Here are some photos of the completed project with notes of products used.

I started off with the vignette tray, then cut a piece of 140lb watercolor paper to fit inside the tray. Since I was going for vintage witchy, I didn’t do anything to the tray. I then sprayed my cut piece of watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress Oxide spray. Once it dried ( with a little help from my heat gun) I stamped the paper with the Ornate & Lace stamp set (CMS348) in Vintage Photo Distress ink. I gave it a quick spritz of water to age it more. 

I then cut multiple items out using the same paper, adding color by water brushing distress ink in various colors and highlighting with my favorite ink, Gathered Twigs. I also cut out multiple pieces of the fireplace to give it depth and mounted it using foam dimension dots so the “ brick “ in the fireplace appeared set back and the ghosts seem to be coming out of the fireplace. Most all die cuts were mounted using the dimensional dots, some I stacked multiple dots for additional depth. The witch and cauldron were attached to the tray by gluing a piece of dense foam behind each piece then gluing them to the foam and tray.

Halloween Rosettes

Recently I was inspired by a Tim Holtz addict like myself to create some Halloween rosettes to be used for either a centerpiece or mantle piece. They could honestly be used for so many things. I started by cutting and gluing together some of the Hip Haunts characters in the latest release of sizzix dies. I then began creating rosettes using the Rosettes die, and the Snowflake strip die cutting them from some Tim Holtz Halloween paper and some other paper I had on hand. I also made a couple by scoring a strip or two of paper, one at 1/4” intervals and the other at 1/2”. You then accordion fold them and attach together at each end creating a circle. I found with the Rosettes die, having a lid from a Ball jar handy helps to get them to flatten uniformly. Once they were flat, I used a circle of paper punched with a hole punch (1 1/2”-1 3/4”) glued on to secure the rosette to then work on the front side. There I attached another circle and added the Hip Haunts characters and some ephemera. ...

Masquerade

This little Halloween scene has been floating around in my head for awhile now and I’m happy I got it done and I’m pleased with the result.  I started with some Tim Holtz baseboard paper dolls then cut out bats using the new Bat Crazy die, Masquerade die and the Crazy things stamps and dies for the pumpkin pail and witches hat. Add caption I then took a small vignette box by Tim Holtz, painted it with crackle paint then rubbed in some rusty hinge and black soot crayons. Then I cut the three houses from the Ghost town die set and attached them to a piece of black foam core board glued to the back of the box.  Next I placed foam on the bases of the characters so they would stand up on the box. I created a banner with some snips of paper and Halloween twine. Those were attached to bbq bamboo skewers that are wrapped with washi tape and topped with an orange bead.
